Born on 17 February 1875 in Christiana, Norway - brother of Amelia Hansen, Christiana, Norway - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Montreal, Quebec, trade as carpenter, single, no current military service, previously served in the 4th Battery (Frederiston, Norway) (five years), Church of England, height of 5 feet 7.5 inches, chest of 39 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair.

Joined the 252nd Battalion, CEF, in Lindsay, Ontario, on 4 April 1917 (number 1087307) - transferred to the 253rd Battalion, CEF, on 25 April 1917 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 8 or 9 April 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 3 May 1919.
