Born on 12 May 1898 in Pakenham, Ontario - son of William Fishenden, Pakenham, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Pakenham, Ontario, trade as tinsmith, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 8 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, reddish hair.

Joined the No. 3 Section, Divisional Ammunition Column, in Kingston, Ontario, on 9 April 1917 (number 2043058) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 26 April 1918 - invalided to England on 1 June 1918.
