Born on 15 February 1892 in Tweed, Ontario - son of Dennis Courneya, Tweed, Ontario - at time of conscription in 1918: present address in Tweed, Ontario, single, Roman Catholic, trade as farmer, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 7 inches, chest of 37.5 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair.

Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, in Kingston, Ontario, on 7 March 1918 (number 3057216) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 October 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
