Private Roy Gregor Simmonds

Born on 15 April 1897 in Essex, England - son of Sarah Simmonds, Bridge Croft, Widdington, Newport, Essex, England - friend of Lewis R. Green, Stirling, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 5 inches; chest of 34 inches fully expanded; fair-ruddy complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 80th Battalion, CEF, in Belleville, Ontario, on 27 September 1915 (number 219740) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in England on 18 July 1916 - died of sickness in England on 6 August 1916 - buried in Bramshott (St. Mary) Churchyard (grave I.K.4), England.
