Born on 20 November 1872 in Clerkenwell, England - husband of Louisa[?] Ross, Verdun, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: present address same as wife; trade as engineer; married; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 7.5 inches; chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded; fresh complexion; blue eyes; gray hair.

Joined the 73rd Battalion, CEF, in Montreal, Quebec, on 30 November 1915 (number 133218) - landed in France with the 73rd Battalion on 12 August 1916 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 April 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool, CEF, on 8 June 1918.
