Born on 25 October 1897 in Springfield, Ontario - son of J.L. Mabel Moore, Springfield, Ontario - brother of Acting-Corporal Gordon Earl Moore, 38th Battalion, CEF - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Springfield, Ontario; trade as butcher; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 6.5 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; hazel eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 3 January 1916 (number 189773) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - wounded on 18 November 1916 - invalided to England on 9 December 1916 - invalided to Canada for further medical treatment.
