Private Benjamin Ewart James

Born on 3 October 1895 in Georgina, Ontario - son of Lottie James, Pefferlaw, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Pefferlaw, Ontario; trade as farmer; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 7 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; fresh complexion; gray eyes; auburn hair.

Joined 166th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 8 February 1916 (number 669671) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 November or 1 December 1916 - wounded on 9 April 1917 - invalided to England on 12 April 1917.
