Private Richard Francis Gorman

Born on 11 June 1885 in Cashel, Galway County, Ireland - brother of Miss Delia Gorman, New York, New York - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer, single, no current or previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 9.5 inches, chest of 39 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 59th Battalion, CEF, in Lindsay, Ontario, on 28 May 1915 (1081250) - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 22 June 1915 (number 410750) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 19 April 1916 - joined the 140th Battalion, CEF, in Saint John, New Brunswick, on 8 June 1916 (number 818238).
