Joined the 130th Battalion, CEF, in Pembroke, Ontario, on 28 January 1916 (number 788853) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 14 or 15 November 1916 - wounded on 3 April 1917 - died of those wounds on 14 April 1917 - buried in Ste. Marie Cemetery (grave Div.3.N.11), France.
