Private Patrick Costello

Born on 17 March 1875 (1915 enlistment) / 1869 (1918 enlistment) in Galway, Ireland - husband of Mary Costello, Toronto, Ontario - at time of enlistment in 1915: trade as painter, married, currently a member of the 109th Regiment, previously served ten years with the Leinster Regiment, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 8.5 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair - at time of enlistment in 1918 (substantial changes only): trade as iron worker, previously served in the United States Army for three years as a sergeant, chest of 42 inches fully expanded.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, on 27 May 1915 (number 411152) - taken on the strength of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 16 July 1915 - served with the PPCLI for one year - joined the "Special Service Company" in Toronto, Ontario, on 10 June 1918 (number 41152 [sic]).
