Joined the 147th Battalion, CEF, in Camp Borden, Ontario, on 21 June 1916 (number 839132) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 June 1917 - killed in action on 27 March 1918 - buried in Aix-Noulette Communal Cemetery Extension (grave II.D.20), France.
