Conner, Tintsin, China - at time of enlistment in 1916: present address in San Francisco, California, trade as clerk, single, no current military service, previously served 3.5 years with the United States Marine Corps, Church of England, height of 5 feet 10.5 inches, chest of 37 inches fully expanded, ruby complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair.
Joined the 97th Battalion, CEF, in Windsor, Ontario, on 18 January 1916 (number 207582) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 May 1917 - injured accidentally on 2 November 1917 - invalided to England on 14 November 1917 - transferred to the Imperial Army on 13 April 1918 in order to be commissioned.
Awarded the Military Medal - no citation - unit recommendation dated 3 July 1917: "He showed a splendid example of courage and initiative in bringing into action a captured German machine gun during attack on Avion Trench."
