Company Sergeant-Major William Betts

Born on 10 April 1885 in Rosliston, England - husband of Gertrude Betts, Brocket, Alberta - attestation form notes employee of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Department, married, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 8.25 inches, chest of 38 inches, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, Church of England.

Joined No. 3 University Company in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on 23 July 1915 (number 475773) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 12 or 13 February 1917 - attached to the Instructional Cadre on 16 March 1917 - transferred to the CCRC[?] on 22 February 1918.

Awarded Mention-in-Despatches [needs to be confirmed].
