Armstrong, Parkhill, Ontario - attestation form notes trade as farmer, single, not now a member of the military, previously served with 26th Middlesex Light Infantry for one year, height of 5 feet 3 inches, chest of 33.5 inches, fair complexion, blue eyes, flaxen hair, Church of England.
Joined the 135th Canadian Infantry Battalion on 24 January 1916 (number 802816) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 8 or 9 April 1918 - wounded on 2 or 4 September 1918 - rejoined the battalion on 21 October 1918 - sent to England on 30 April 1919.
