Born on 20 September 1897 in Smiths Falls, Ontario - son of Jacob and Mary E. Megert, Smiths Falls, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Smiths Falls, Ontario; trade as laborer; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 7.5 inches; chest of 40 inches fully expanded; weight of 170 pounds; fresh complexion; brown eyes; dark brown hair.

Joined the 130th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 25 February 1916 (number 787388) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 14 or 15 November 1916 - killed in action on 9 April 1917 - name inscribed on the Vimy Memorial, France.
