Benjamin Welland McGregor was my father. He married first in 1922 but had no children. He married a second time to Edna May Davis of Toronto in 1947. I was born in 1950. My dad did not like to talk about the war although he attended the annual battalion reunions in Toronto. In 1972 I took him to Vimy Ridge and we walked in the area where the 38th had fought in April 1917. He died in March 1973. His funeral was attended by six veterans of the 38th who held a private service. I have many battalion association newsletters. I have an enormous interest in the First and Second World Wars due to my father's encouragement. In the early 1970's the Association was identifying "sons of the Battalion" and I have always considered myself a "son of the Battalion". My son is named Geoffrey Benjamin McGregor in honour of his grandfather. Submitted August 2015 by Ian McGregor, Mississauga, Ontario.
