Joined the 161st Battalion, CEF, in Hensal, Ontario, on 4 March 1916 (number 654545) - taken on the strnegth of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 29 December 1916 - wounded on 9 or 11 April 1917 - invalided to England on 5 May 1917.
