Joined the 62nd Battalion, CEF, in Vancouver, British Columbia, as the battalion medical officer on 1 July 1915 - taken on the strength of the Canadian Army Medical Corps, CEF, in France on 9 June 1916 - attached to the 38th Battalion, CEF, from 17 March to 24 May 1917.
Recommended for a Military Cross, but no award made - unit recommendation dated 3 July 1917: "For valuable services rendered in his capacity of Medical Officer during attack on Vimy Ridge and succeeding two months."
