Joined the 10th Battalion, CEF, in Valcartier, Quebec, on 22 September 1914 - transferred to the 45th Battalion, CEF, on 18 February 1915 - transferred to the 101st Battalion, CEF, as a Major in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on 1 December 1915 - taken on the strength of the 73rd Battalion, CEF, on 27 January 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 April 1917 - invalided sick to England on 16 November 1917.
