Conscripted into the 2nd Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 18 March 1918 (number 3320724) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 October 1918 - wounded on 2 or 4 November 1918 - invalided to England on 9 November 1918.
