Private William John McLeod

Born on 9 September 1897 in Proton, Grey County, Ontario - son of Mrs. Neil McLeod, Proton, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Proton, Ontario; trade as student; single; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 8.5 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 147th Battalion, CEF, in Owen Sound, Ontario, on 10 April 1916 (number 839062) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 June 1917 - invalided sick to England on 6 September 1917.
