Lieutenant William Montague Matthews

Born on 8 April 1893 in Ottawa, Ontario - son of W.E. Matthews, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as father; trade as "provision merchant"; Baptist; currently a member of the 43rd Regiment Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles; previously served with the Army Service Corps (one year) and cadets (three years).

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, as a Lieutenant in Ottawa, Ontario, on 23 March 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 November 1917 - killed in action on 29 September 1918 - buried in Bourlon Wood Cemetery (grave II.A.3), France.
