Born 16 December 1897 in Oakville, Ontario - son of Sarah Lawrence, Oakville, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Oakville, Ontario; trade as labourer; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 8 inches; chest of 32.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 164th Battalion, CEF, in Oakville, Ontario, on 13 January 1916 (number 663062) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 29 or 30 March 1918 - wounded on 2 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 4 October 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
