Private Alexandre Francoeur

Born on 8 March 1897 in St. Godfroy, Co. Bonaventure, Quebec - son of Joseph Francoeur and Angelique Huard, St. Godfroy, Co. Bonaventure, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer, single, no current or previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 4 inches, chest of 33.25 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, grey eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 77th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 2 August 1915 (number 144197) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Bermuda on 6 December 1915 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 22 January 1916 - joined the 69th Battalion, CEF, on 26 January 1916 - taken on the strength of the 22nd Battalion, CEF, on 28 June 1916 - killed in action on 24 August 1916 - buried in Elzenwalle Brasserie Cemetery (grave III.A.3), Belgium.
