Lieutenant Edwin Herscheal Armstrong

Born on 7 June 1888 in Rochester, New York, USA - son of Mrs. Margaret Armstrong, Toronto, Ontario - enlistment form notes present address Springfield, Illinois, USA, trade of oculist, formerly member of "Militia Camp, Canada" for three years, currently member of 13th Royal Regiment, Church of England.

Joined the 97th Canadian Infantry Battalion on 29 February 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 12 February 1917 - invalided sick to England on 5 April 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 9 July 1917 - sent to England on 25 September 1917.

Hi Ken,

I came across an article about this fellow in an October 1918edition of the Vancouver Daily Sun. He returned to the US and joined their army as a Private and was training their men.
