Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 17 March 1916 (number 190098) - transferred to the 4th Pioneer Battalion, CEF, on 15 May 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 26 November 1917.
