Private Cecil Elmas Bryce

Born on 20 May 1896 in Rockland, Ontario - son of Thomas Bryce, Carleton Place, Ontario - enlistment records provide the following: trade as spinner, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 7 inches, chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded, florid complexion, grey eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Ottawa, Ontario, on 27 March 1915 (number 410755) - taken on the strength of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Battalion in France on 25 August 1915 - killed in action on 9 September 1916 - buried in Pozieres British Cemetery (grave III.O.44), France.
