Born on 29 October 1877 in Markbeech, Kent, England - husband of Ada Stanford, Toronto, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as wife; trade as carpenter; married; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 9.5 inches; chest of 37.5 inches fully expanded; fresh complexion; blue eyes; dark hair.

Joined the 166th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 17 January 1916 (number 669398) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 November or 1 December 1916 - wounded at duty on 2 September 1918 - wounded on 30 September 1918 - invalided to England on 3 October 1918.
