Private Herman Robertson

Born on 11 April 1896 in Fairbault, Rice County, Minnesota - nephew of Albert Thompson, Brocket, Ramsey County, North Dakota - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Portal, North Dakota; trade as baggageman; single; no current or previous military service; Lutheran; height of 5 feet 11 inches; chest of 37.25 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; brown eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 97th Battalion, CEF, in Estevan, Saskatchewan, on 5 April 1916 (number 261143) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 6 September 1917 - invalided to England on 11 September 1917.
