Born on 6 August 1897 in Port Hope, Ontario - son of Henry Reynolds, Port Hope, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Port Hope, Ontario; trade as student; single; no current military service; previously served with cadets (three years); Church of England; height of 5 feet 5.5 inches; chest of 33 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 136th Battalion, CEF, in Port Hope, Ontario, on 17 February 1916 (number 805357) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 5 or 6 June 1917 - invalided sick to England on 30 April 1918.
