Corporal John Reith

Born on 19 March 1899 in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland - son of James Reith, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Napinska, Manitoba; trade as machinist; single; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 10 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 78th Battalion, CEF, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on 1 April 1916 (number 148797) - landed in France with the 78th Battalion on 12 August 1916 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 31 March or 1 April 1917 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
