Private Simon McBrien

Born on 28 February 1884 in Jamestown, New York - husband of Edith McBrien, Belleville, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as wife; trade as heater in rolling mills; married; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 6 feet 2 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 155th Battalion, CEF, in Belleville, Ontario, on 8 March 1916 (number 636790) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 24 May 1917 - invalided sick to England on 25 August 1917.

I have found this soldier's gravestone. It reads 636790 Corporal Simon L. McBrien 38th Battn. CEF. 19th December, 1941.

(Located in Belleville Cemetery)
