Born on 5 February 1896 in Whitelake, Ontario - son of Mrs. Luis Lascell, Arnprior, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current or previous military service; Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 8 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; weight of 157 pounds; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 130th Battalion, CEF, in Arnprior, Ontario, on 28 October 1915 (number 788216) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 14 or 15 November 1916 - attached to the 4th Canadian Divisional Employment Company, CEF, on 25 June 1917 - attached to the 8th Canadian Area Employment Company, CEF, on 26 January 1919 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 5 May 1919.
