Private James Lawrence

Born on 6 March 1897 in Toronto, Ontario - son of Rachel Lawrence, Toronto, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current or previous military service; Wesleyan; height of 5 feet 6 inches; chest of 33.5 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 19 July 1915 (number 410806) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 7 October 1917.
