Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 11 February 1915 (number 410112) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - broke a leg and discharged as medically unfit - transferred to the 163rd Battalion, CEF, on 1 June 1916 - [then what] - joined the Corps of Military Staff Clerks, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 15 July 1919.
