Private Amèdée Hoile

Born on 6 September 1898 in Bonfield, Ontario - son of Seraphin and Clara Hoile, Bonfield, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Bonfield, Ontario, trade as farmer, single, currently a member of the 97th Regiment, no previous military service, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 5.25 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 159th Battalion, CEF, in North Bay, Ontario, on 15 April 1916 (number 649168) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 June 1917 - killed in action on 30 October 1917 - name inscribed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (panel 10-18-26-28), Belgium.
