Born on 14 April 1898 in Westmeath Township, Ontario - son of Robert and Sarah Dougherty, Beachburg, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Beachburg, Ontario, trade as high school student, single, no current or previous military service, Presbyterian, height of 5 feet 10.5 inches, weight of 145 pounds, chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded, ruddy complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 130th Battalion, CEF, in Renfrew, Ontario, on 15 May 1916 (number 788641) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 14 or 15 November 1916 - killed in action on 9 April 1917 - name inscribed on the Vimy Memorial, France.
