Private Alfred Boling

Born on 16 August 1887 in Finland (moved to Canada in 1906) - sister of Mrs. Anna Carlson, Port Arthur, Ontario - attestation form notes trade as trackman, single, currently a member of the militia (no unit named), no previous military service, height of 5 feet 7 inches, chest of 38.5 inches, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, Lutheran.

Joined the 38th Battalion in Ottawa, Ontario, on 27 March 1915 (number 410458) - served with the battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded (accident) on 29 September 1916 - rejoined the battalion on 27 February 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Forestry Corps on 24 August 1918.

Very interesting facts. Alfred B was the brother of my grandfather. He died soon after the war i Canada.
