Born on 1 April 1889 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - son of Amos and Catherine Adams (nee Storey), Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as grocery clerk, marital status single, served previously in the 4th Regiment Canadian Artillery, height of 5 feet 9 inches, chest of 35.5 inches, dark complexion, gray eyes, black hair, and a Presbyterian.
Joined the 13th Canadian Mounted Rifles Regiment on 3 February 1915 (number 552236) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 10 or 11 November 1917 - wounded on 29 October 1918, taking shrapnel in the trenches in front of Valenciennes which fractured his skull - died of those wounds at No.1 Casualty Clearing Station on 30 October 1918 - originally buried in Emerchicout Churchyard, 5.5 miles west of Denain (row A, grave 15) - finally buried in Douai British Cemetery, France (grave G.16).
