Joined the 212th Battalion, CEF, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on 31 March 1916 (number 261104) – taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 16 or 17 February 1917 – wounded on 1 September 1918 – rejoined the 38th Battalion on 2 November 1918 – struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 11 April 1919.
