Born on 28 September 1891 in Belfast, Ireland - husband of Annie Stevenson, Toronto, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: present address same as wife; trade as plumber; married; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 9.5 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; blue grey eyes; black hair.

Joined the Canadian Army Service Corps, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 27 November 1915 (number 510571) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 5 July 1917 - invalided sick to England on 8 March 1918.
