Joined the 240th Battalion, CEF, in Renfrew, Ontario, on 26 January 1917 (number 1042909) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 18 or 19 January 1918 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool, CEF, on 26 April 1918 - transferred to the 76th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, CEF, on 3 May 1918 - transferred to Canadian Forestry Corps Headquarters, CEF, on 30 October 1918.
