Private James Douglas Shearer

Son of E.S. and Annie Shearer, Smiths Falls, Ontario (later Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan).

Joined the 240th Battalion, CEF, as an acting-sergeant in Renfrew, Ontario, on 1 July 1916 (number 1042029) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 November 1917 - transferred to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, CEF, on 28 November 1917 - died on 16 August 1918 of wounds received that day - buried in Boves West Communal Cemetery Extension (grave A.11), France.
