Lance-Corporal Charles Singleton Melville

Born on 16 July 1876 in Glasgow, Scotland - husband of Mrs. C.S. Melville, Gananoque, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Gananoque, Ontario; trade as blacksmith; married; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 6.5 inches; chest of 38.75 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 156th Battalion, CEF, in Gananoque, Ontario, on 1 February 1916 (number 639477) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 18 or 19 January 1918 - wounded on 2 September 1918 - invalided to England on 20 September 1918.
