Private Louis Loppen

Born on 16 March 1891 in Petrograd, Russia - friend of Matthew Martin, Montreal, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as sailor; single; currently a member of the 43rd Regiment; previously served with the 4th Field Artillery, USA; Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 10.5 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; hazel eyes; light brown eyes.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 29 April 1915 (number 410132) - served with the 38th Battalion, CEF, during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - taken on the strength of the 1st Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops, CEF, on 9 July 1918.
