Born on 3 April 1898 in Artenmesie Township, Ontario - son of James and Jeanette Cargoe, Flesherton, Ontario - enlistment records provide the following: present address in Toronto, Ontario, trade as labourer, single, no current or previous military service, Methodist, height of 5 feet 7.25 inches, chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair.

Joined the Depot Regiment, Canadian Mounted Rifles, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 8 May 1916 (number 225798) - transferred to the 58th Battalion, CEF, on 17 May 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 August 1918 - killed in action on 2 September 1918 - buried in Dury Mill British Cemetery (grave I.C.8), France.

Hello, Reuben was a relative of my father's. He was born in Artemsia TWP and is buried at Dury Mill. A place that my father and I visited in 1989, a beautiful and well maintained cemetery. I have a few more details and a couple of photos if you are interested.
