Joined the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on 16 March 1915 (number 411071) - taken on the strength of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 16 July 1915 - transferred to the Canadian Army Medical Corps on 22 August 1916.
