Corporal Percy Wainwright Carleton

Born on 18 September 1892 in County West Meath, Ireland - son of Dr. William and Charlotte Matilda Carleton, Montreal, Quebec - enlistment records provide the following: trade as machinist, single, no current military service, previously served with the 5th Royal Highlanders, Wesleyan, height of 5 feet 7.7 inches, chest of 35 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Montreal, Quebec, on 16 March 1915 (number 410970) - taken on the strength of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 16 July 1915 - wounded on 8 or 11 October 1916 - killed in action on 10 November 1918 - buried in Cuesmes Communal Cemetery (grave A.3), Belgium.
