Corporal George Batch

Born on 24 April 1882 in London, England - son of Mrs. F. Batch, Chingford, Essex, England - attestation form notes trade as cement and steel bridge construction, single, no current military service, served two years with the 9th Battalion Welch Imperial Yeomanry during the South African War, height of 5 feet 6.5 inches, chest of 36.5 inches, fresh complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair, Church of England.

Joined the 35th Canadian Infantry Battalion on 30 June 1915 (number 404996) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 4 or 5 April 1918 - wounded on 10 August 1918 - invalided to England on 16 August 1918.
