Corporal Albert Barton

Born on 23 December 1886 in London, England - husband of Olive G. Barton, Cobourg, Ontario - attestation form notes trade as boilermaker, married, no current or previous military service, height of 6 feet 1 inch, chest of 40.5 inches, fair complexion, hazel eyes, light brown hair, Church of England.

Joined the 38th Battalion on 18 May 1915 (number 410016) - served with the battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 9 April 1917 - rejoined the battalion on 30 April 1917 - struck off the strength of the battalion on 16 June 1919.

Awarded the Military Medal - no citation - unit recommendation 3 April 1917: "For gallant conduct in rescuing and assisting in the resuscitation of others overcome by gas 26-3-17."

Recommended for a Military Medal - no award - unit recommendation 17 April 1917: "For gallant conduct during operations Apr. 9th 1917."
